This year, we’re making it fun with a full week of family games inspired by the 7 Principles of Kwanzaa… and you’re invited!

From Nov 21–28, ending after Thanksgiving Day, you’ll receive:

Day 1 (Nov 21) — Umoja Match-Up

Focus: Togetherness


Activities:


Take a family selfie or group photo to represent unity.


Share one thing you appreciate about the family.


Eat dinner together with no phones.


Create a “Unity Goal” for the new year.

Day 2 — (Nov 22) Kujichagulia Challenge: Name Yourself

Focus: Naming yourself & defining who you are


Activities:


Everyone says: “I define myself. I choose my own path.”


Write personal affirmations on sticky notes.


Kids can make name art with their name meanings.


Adults can set a personal intention for the year.


DAY 3 — Ujima (Collective Work & Responsibility)

Focus: Solving problems together


Activities:


Clean or organize one space together.


Cook a meal as a team.


Choose one family issue and brainstorm solutions.


Do a small act of service in the neighborhood.

Day 4 — Empower Our Community with Ujamaa

 

Focus: Supporting our community’s businesses


Activities:

  • Buy from a Black-owned business today.
     
  • Kids: create a pretend store or marketplace in the house.
     
  • Share financial goals as a family.
     
  • Promote a small business online.

DAY 5 — Nia (Purpose)

 

Focus: Why we exist & our mission


Activities:


Create a family mission statement.


Each person writes down one purpose-driven goal for next year.


Do an activity that aligns with your purpose — reading, art, volunteering.


Discuss the purpose of your family legacy.

DAY 6 — Kuumba (Creativity)

 

Focus: Using creativity to uplift our community


Activities:


Arts and crafts night.


Make homemade decorations or Kwanzaa cards.


Write poems, dance, or create a TikTok family fun video.


Improve one thing in the home to make it more beautiful.

DAY 7 — Imani (Faith)

 

Focus: Belief in ourselves, our family, and our future


Activities:


Everyone shares a hope or dream for the future.


Light a candle and speak the phrase: “We believe in us.”


Pray together or reflect on your faith/spiritual practice.


Create a “Faith in the Future” vision board.
